Have a love affair with bizzare foods?

Published by sierraexotic at 11:53 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

1057288_sushi_roll.jpgI am always watching  in amazement Andrew Zimmern as he takes on a new and unusual food item on every episode of his travel channel hit show ‘Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern’.

Some things really want to make me gag while others just completely fascinate me.  The interesting thing about Andrew isn’t just his willingness to try just about anything exotic and rare but the way he describes everything his lips touch as he shows off his love affair for bizarre foods.

I love the way he details how the foods tastes almost down to an erotic tone unlike anything imaginable! He uses such words that are so sensual to the pallet that to describe how much he enjoys what he eats embodies him as being extraordinary and luscious.

With such visits to famed New York locations like the Carnegie Deli; Andrew explains that this New York hot spot is the largest Mecca of huge food servings anywhere on the planet and for Andrew- the bigger the better!

One of Andrew’s indulgences at the deli was their famous Tongue sandwiches. Which with a little mustard, onion, lettuce and tongues smashed between two slices of bread this fatty rich salty delight is the closest thing to bologna. According to Andrew “texturally it’s not for everyone, but flavor wise you gotta try one.”

He also gave some Geflite fish a try and described this little known delicacy as being a “pouched  fish dumpling of the finest pedigree.” He refers to these types of foods at the deli as being “a bizarre foods, ‘cult status’ type of edible.”

With a smorgasbord of bizarre foods with everything from creepy fish caviar and liver and onions to hard boiled eggs and potato pancakes; Andrews’s favorite places are truly a melting pot in the hidden food gems of the world.

Andrew’s love for food really stands out when he visits a live sushi bar. He calls one particular restaurant his ‘live fish addiction’ and states specifically how this live sushi bar sets others apart- “Because  average sushi  soy sauce white rice kind of places bore the pants out of me!”  (say that three times real fast) Well, compared to all of the exotic eateries he has been to it’s no wonder! His whole sense of humor brings a chuckle to my throat.

Yet he goes on to begin dining on fresh tuna, live geoduck and octopus that has just been scooped up from the water and makes a soft and soul-full comment such as “ This goeduck is a masterpiece of explosive sweetness with a crispiness and oceanic burst of flavor” It was like I was right there tasting it with him.

Not only is it as intriguing sometimes as watching porn, watching and listening to Andrew talk about his experiences with exotic flair creates an attraction and love affair with bizarre foods that is something everyone needs to try at least once.

Sushi anyone?
