Are Swingers making a comeback?
Have you met your new neighbors yet? Maybe they are into more than just getting together with other couples for a Thursday night Bridge party.
With the new CBS summertime hit blast Swingtown, blood is rushing to more than just people’s heads. The show explores the sexual exploration of a group of friends in the late 1970’s. Not only does the show dive deep inside of the minds of most red blooded adults of any age, it touches on a subject that is still very hush hush even in today’s open minded society. Swingers.
I’m not talking about monkeys who hang form the trees, I’m talking about married adults who love to spend quality alone time with their spouses and their neighbor’s spouses too. The show starts off with a happily married couple who have just moved into the neighborhood and show a raging yet innocent curiosity amongst their new neighbors who live across the street. When invited over for a cocktail party, they unsuspectingly discover that their new best friends are Swingers and soon thereafter curiosity consumes them and they swap partners for the night. The married couples soon find this brings them closer together than they ever were and indulge in what new found sexual excitement their new lifestyle has brought to their Boudoir.
What really makes the story line addicting is that there is a counterpart to the story line, the neighbors who are newly into the swinging lifestyle have old best friends they have left behind who happen to stumble upon their new found lifestyle. Needless to stay this causes a huge wedge in all of the friendships. Hearing different opinions and oppositions to both sides of this sexual lifestyle is what makes for a great storyline for the show.
Why is it in 2008, in a society as open minded as ours is, does the subject of Swingers or swapping partners rarely ever come up? Could it be considered a cardinal sin, or maybe it has become almost obsolete and no one is doing it anymore? I don’t think so. What about you?
The hit show Swingtown is bringing a lot of topics to the table, monogamy, sex, adultery, marriage and a little naughty, naughty fun.
Being curious as I was, I decided to watch the first episode and since then I have been hooked. I love to watch the drama unfold between the marriage partners and I love seeing the friendships blossom into a mutual understanding of both sides of opposition of open marriage and spouse swapping to keeping monogamy and marriage sacred.
Whether the thought of sleeping with your friend’s husband has ever crossed your mind, or you couldn’t possibly see yourself with anyone else but the love of your life, the show Swingtown opens up your eyes to both sides of the opposition.
Is swinging and swapping partners sometimes a good thing between consensual adults or can the long term effects be truly damaging? If it is acceptable to know who your spouse is sleeping with at all times, does this open up the door for them to feel the need to explore when you don’t know they are? Swingtown touches on the subject of infidelity and keeping secrets so that the possible long term effects of swapping spouses can be raised and discussed.
Swingtown is meant to be watched in fun and to let the viewer decide how far they want to take their fantasies and desires to the next level. While one spouse be open minded, the other one may not be, this can cause a strain on sexual exploration between married couples and can be a major cause of infidelity in relationships.
So are you ready to take your marriage or relationship to the next level? Well, start off slow and get some popcorn and tune in to the steamiest show on primetime. One thing that can be guaranteed is that after watching the show, lets just say things will surely be hotter in the bedroom between you and your spouse.
